Aim of the course
This event will help participants identify the skills and strategies needed to resolve conflict at work and in communities. It will focus on the conflict situations we find ourselves in at work and use models to help us work through conflict in a practical, problem-solving way. There will be an opportunity to look at common problems experienced by participants in voluntary and community organisations and find logical approaches to overcoming them, where all parties are heard.
By the end of the event, participants should be able to:
- Identify reasons why conflict breaks out at work and in communities
- Recognise stages in the development of conflict
- Explain the effects of conflict on individuals and teams
- Create some ground rules which enable teams to work through conflict carefully
- Use a conflict resolution model to work through a difficult situation
- Describe how they can promote a harmonious environment and minimise the risks of conflict developing in their situation
